i haven't been gone that long

by Zach Kincaid

Do you remember what I told you?
I am the way, the truth, the life.
No one comes to the Father,
save through me the Son of God.
So if you want to abide in me,
come to my table,
come to my table and believe.

If a thousand years is like a day,
then I haven’t been gone that long.
Keep your candles burning bright, and
keep on singing that old salvation song,
because I’m coming,
I’m coming to take you home.

I go to prepare a place for you,
one of the many, many rooms.
And I can’t wait to get back down here
and show that it’s all true.
Because in Heaven there’s no need
for faith, and grace is all used up.
The work is now a feast that
makes your healing sure and complete.

If a thousand years is like a day,
then I haven’t been gone that long.
Keep your hope set on high, and
Keep on praying that my will, will be done
because I’m coming,
I’m coming to take you home.

There was a time in the wilderness
when the devil showed his hand.
Talking big from Deuteronomy so to
trap the Son of Man.
He tried to change the story and
bend it to his way,
but all the power and dominion,
all the bounty and the splendors
are mine alone and so I can say,

If a thousand years is like a day,
then I haven’t been gone that long.
Keep your eyes on the heavens
to which your help comes from…
because I’m coming,
I’m coming to take you home.

If a thousand years is like a day,
then I haven’t been gone that long.
Keep your candles burning bright, and
keep on singing that old salvation song,
because I’m coming,
I’m coming to take you home.
